How Tom Martino Got Me $4,500!
The Troubleshooter “Tom Martino” Show is by far one of the most entertaining and helpful radio programs I’ve ever listened to.
I started listening to Tom Martino when I was a kid. Around the age of 16 maybe 17 I had purchased a used car from a dealership off of Havana in Aurora. Included in the purchase was a bumper-to-bumper warranty. One brisk night (it was really cold) my car randomly shut down on the highway. I had the car towed to the nearest shop and found that the timing belt had snapped resulting in the enjoy to basically, explode internally.
I provided the shop with my extended warranty. The warranty company sent their adjuster out who refused the claim because the damage fell in a ‘gray’ area. The cost for a new motor was around $4,500. Obviously, I didn’t have the money to fix the car and I was pretty upset that I spent $2K on a warranty that didn’t cover much. So I did what many Coloradoans do, I called in on the Tom Martino Show.
I went over the situation with Tom Martino quickly got the warranty company on the phone. While Tom turned the ‘heat up’ the warranty company still refused to pay for the repair. After the call, Tom urged me to file a small claims court suit. He said I had a very good chance at winning and walked me through what I needed to do to get that done.
The next day, I went down to Jefferson County and filed a small claims suit, and had the warranty company served. Within a few short days, I received a call from the warranty company who apologized and said they would cover the cost for a new engine.
